The idea: I want to use the poem “Dream Within a Dream” by Edgar Allan Poe and create a series of photographs that represent the central theme of the poem; which is dealing the constructions of fiction and reality. I hope to tell the story of a young woman who is schizophrenic. And in this story she is having a psychotic break in which she is imagining that she is in a romantic relationship with a young man and she idealizes her fantasy in a date. So the frame of this story would be the date that she goes on with this young man. But while she is on the date her reality begins to break through and at the end of the presentation it is solidified that she is simply insane and having a mental illusion.
Where: I will be taking my own photographs and putting them into a series on my prezi for this class.
Critic 1: I would really like to focus in Ramage, particularly his idea of the readymade and why photographers pose things a certain way. Also I want to discuss recent articles that we have been reading that talk about the differences between photojournalism and other types of photography.
Prezi: Since I do not have any of the pictures for my presentation taken yet, I took some random photos that held significant meaning to me and put them into a practice prezi so that I could get a feel of how to place pictures and work with the paths on the site.
What’s next: I will be taking pictures so that I can tell the story that I want to get across. And then I will edit them to make them more dramatically effective and putting them into the prezi I will be creating for the presentation.
My point: My overall purpose for this presentation is to get the viewers to think about the constructions of reality and how each of us perceives it differently. Each of us have different views on different things in a wide range of topics, but does that means someone’s perception of what is going on around them is necessarily considered wrong?
